HA HA HA, I love it...

Dillon's first visit to the ER.

First, I was going to put up pictures of Dillon's injury but decided not to just yet. I can't bring myself to do it.
So while I was down at school, Brent was with the kids at home. Brent had just recently turned our office space into a room for the kids. The kids had our old heavy TV in the room on top of a table. Somehow, and we still can't figure it out, Dillon managed to pull the TV off the table and on to himself. His head, and only his head, was under the massive TV.
Brent called me immediately but I had my phone on silent and didn't feel it vibrating. So after a bit of trying he ran over to mom and dad's house to get her opinion. He didn't take Dillon to the ER immediately b/c we are still fighting to get Dillon on our insurance (the county messed up the paperwork). I finally got a hold of him, I still feel like a shmuck for not having my phone close enough to me. I rushed home, I was excited that I was able to make it in decent time with it being Friday Vegas traffic and all.
When I got to the house and saw Dillon I decided immediately to take him in to the hospital. He had this huge goose egg on his forehead and his right eye was completely swollen shut and bruised. He was in a good mood though, so that was reassuring. At the ER, we waited for hours, got him into the MRI, waited many more hours. The Doc called us and immediately checked his eyes, which is what had me worried. He then explained that Dillon had an orbital fracture. Which is fancy talk for he has a break in his eye socket. The problem with that is that his eye muscles can get caught and pinched in the break. So the doc had checked his eyes and thought they were fine b/c he was able to move his eye around no problem. And now we are to follow up with a pediatric plastic surgeon. How fun!
So with all this we will push harder to get him added on our insurance, and if not, we will get him on some kind of insurance. It has been one heck of a ride. We are so grateful to God that he is ok, and the damage is not that bad. Now with some serious prayer I hope that we can get this whole insurance thing taken care of.

Sea World '09

Being that this year was the first year we didn't have a whole bunch planned to bring in the New Year, we decided to go down and visit a close friend in San Diego. She surprised us with free tickets to Sea World (she works there). It was so much fun having our own personal guide. She knew where to go and at what time. It was really nice not to have to sit there with a map trying to figure out where we were headed next. We saw the Clydesdale horses and left in a hurry when one of them decided to get 'excited.' Talk about awkward. Then to Wild Arctic, fed Dolphins, saw sharks, Sea Lion show, and then Shamu. When we were viewing under the water, the whale was too cute and was actually interacting with our kids. It was so great, she was nodding with the kids and would do a lap and come right back to the kids and play some more with them. Call me a party pooper but I think that the new Shamu show was pretty lame. It felt a bit too much like Free Willy. But overall, it was a really good experience. The kids were so well behaved which made it an even better experience. So that was the day... And a few pics to show for it.

Christmas was so much fun.

The kids had such a great time with Christmas this year. On Christmas eve we took the new toys and blankets over to the Homeless Shelter, and the kids were able to see first hand what it was like to not have a home. Brent and I were not sure what to expect either b/c niether one of us have ever been to a shelter. It was humbling for everyone in our family, it made us really grateful for all the blessings in our life.
The kids opened their gifts on Christmas morning and were pretty excited for the gift they received. Jordan got some Nerf guns, Rebecca got some play makeup, and Dillon got some die-cast cars (the kid needs durable toys b/c he damages everything!) Unfortunately the guns that Jordan got were not checked twice by Santa's elves b/c they were pretty cheap. So Santa made a special trip to Jordan with new guns and took the old ones to his workshop to have the elves work on them for next year. Mom and dad just skipped gifts this year b/c we kinda bought our own things anyway.
We spent a lot of time with family and friends. I can't remember which days we did what but we did spend time with my dad, the Faylor Family, and with my sister Kellie. Overall, this Christmas was really nice. It was so calm and it was nice to be able to visit and be surrounded by the ones we love instead of fousing so much on who got what and who gets what.

Just a little update.

I just wanted to say that I passed my first semester of Nursing. I scored a 94 on my exam and got a final grade of 98 in the class. I am only posting because it has been one heck of a ride and I am so excited to be done for a few weeks. It is nice too because after my last teacher, who blatantly stated that the reason she gave me a poor grade was because I have small children, it is nice to know that I am smart enough to do this. So there is my tid-bit; sorry if I come across brash. I just enjoy the fact that I passed amidst all the hurdles I had to overcome. I am so grateful to God and his blessings that he has given me and my family. Well, I bel-bel-bel-believe that's all folks... I miss Bugs Bunny.

The snow has hit the High Desert...

Wow! Can you all believe that the DESERT got this much snow???? I decided to go Christmas shopping in this mess... not exactly the greatest idea. After being out for a couple hours we almost didn't make it home. The snow just kept coming. I am glad tho that we were smart enough not to drive faster than 20 mph. Well here are some pictures. We love you all. Have fun with this 'once in a lifetime for the desert' day.

The snow fell down the post and made a little animal, depending on how you look at it, we think it looks like a piggy or Winnie the Pooh.
